Cynthia Core, PhD, CCC-SLP

Cynthia Core is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. She received her Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Florida. Her undergraduate major was German, and she has an M.A. in Linguistics. Dr. Core teaches graduate courses and mentors graduate student research in the M.A. program in Speech-Language Pathology. She also teaches and supervises undergraduate students in the B.A. program. When she is not teaching and conducting research, she enjoys time with her family and pets, cooking, eating, reading, and being outside.

Jessica DeFreeuw, B.S.

Jessica is a second-year Masters student at GW in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She received her bachelor's degree from James Madison University in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and she is an alumna of the World Race. When she isn't in class or working in the clinic, she enjoys reading, doing puzzles, cross-stitching, spending time outside, regular exercise, and baking. She and her husband, Jonathan, live in Alexandria with their cat, Newt.

Monica Sohn, B.A.

Monica is a second-year Masters student in the George Washington Speech-Language Pathology program. She received her bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science and a minor in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. She is interested in working with people with disabilities and bilingual populations. Monica is a Virginia native and enjoys spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

Julianne Isabel, B.S

Julianne is a first-year Masters student at GW in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She received her bachelor's degree from Florida State University in Communication Science and Disorders with a minor in Social Welfare. In her spare time, she loves to read and travel.

Samantha Yi, B.A.

Samantha is a first year Masters student at GW in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in Hearing and Speech Sciences. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.

Emily Bortnik, B.S.

Emily is a first-year Masters student at GW in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She received her bachelor's degree from Florida State University in Psychology with a minor in Family Child Science. In her spare time, she loves to travel and cook.

Kate Marston

Kate is a high school senior in Arlington, Virginia interested in studying Spanish and Linguistics in undergraduate school. In her free time she enjoys singing, playing ultimate frisbee, and learning German.
